The Heritage Suites-steenberg hotel capetown south africa
The Heritage Suites at Steenberg Hotel offer magnificent views of Steenberg Vineyards, Golf Course and False Bay and embrace the 325 year history of Steenberg – the Cape’s oldest farm – as well as celebrating modern Steenberg by blending historical period antiques with sophisticated contemporary technology to create an exquisite, distinguished luxury to Steenberg.
Steenberg Hotel recently added a new distinction to its fascinating history when it introduced the three extraordinary Heritage Suites that celebrate its National Monument status.
The Suites are a contemporary interpretation and a tribute to three distinct historic periods in the history of the Cape whilst offering Five Star accommodation and service excellence.
The suites have been created within the Jonkershuis (most of the Cape Estates had these “young man houses”), and have been done within the constraints laid down in the Law for an Historic Building, the exterior of which is not permitted to be altered in any way. The interiors have been changed dramatically, as Government are prepared to be flexible about this provided “new life is being breathed” into an old building.
The three large Heritage Suites are – The Cape Colonial, The Khoi Khoi and the Dutch East India Suites.
These Suites will exceed the expectations of even the most discerning of travellers.
Cape Colonial Suite
Cape Town’s rich colonial and cultural history has contributed to this style, with sources as widely different as medieval Holland and Germany, the French Huguenots and the islands of Indonesia. This suite has its own private pool.
Khoi Khoi Suite
The Khoi Khoi, whose name means ‘men of men’ were some of the first inhabitants of the Cape. Peaceful, nomadic herders they are also among the first pottery makers in the archeological record books. This suite has two en-suite bedrooms and bathrooms.
