The park is home to a wide variety of general game including the Big 5, in addition both species of rhino occur, namely black and white, and cheetah and wild dog. Each group of guests is assigned a personal guide who is tasked with interpreting the sights and sounds of the African bush.
Standard Suites
Decorated in a range of earthy tones ranging from terra cottas to deep blues, the rooms have been carefully co-ordinated to ensure comfortable seating both indoors and out. The standard configuration includes two twin beds and in a limited number of rooms it is possible for to offer a king size bed.
It is also possible to introduce a third bed into the room in the event that a child / children wish to share with parents. It is not possible to add a fourth bed.
Entertainment in either the open air boma or at our exclusive remote bush dinner site is also an option and could include a marimba band, drumming, traditional dancers etc.
Spa Treatments are made possible through the partnership with Mangwanani, therapists convert one or more private lounge areas within the lodge environs into a haven of aromas and sensations. It is not unusual to have as many as 20 therapists at the lodge.
Hot Air Ballooning , an experience which will take your breath away as you float in the early morning air above the park.
Elephant back safari , an experience available at the Outdoor Adventure Centre adjacent to the Sun City Complex.
Activities including quad bike riding, clay pigeon shooting, archery are also available at the Outdoor Adventure Centre adjacent to the Sun City Complex.
Ivory Tree Activities
The principle activity at Ivory Tree is the open vehicle safaris which give our guests a truly exciting and rare bushveld experience.
There are also a numerous activities which occur in and around the Pilanesberg National Park, which include hot air ballooning, elephant back rides and golf at the nearby Sun City complex.
Unlike most national park game drives, ours are conducted in custom built 10 seater vehicles. Our guests are allocated a dedicated ranger for the duration of their stay, ensuring that they enjoy a full game viewing opportunity, the emphasis being on big game.
This enables your ranger to better understand your particular interests and permits enough time to do his/her best to ensure that Ivory Tree satisfies your requirements. Game drive times are determined by optimal animal activity periods and would be adjusted seasonally, for example, during the summer months the game drives would typically take place early in the morning (before breakfast) and late in the afternoon.
During the winter months, game drives depart later in the morning (after breakfast) and earlier in the afternoon.
Quadbiking
guests are taken on an escorted route which passes through a community brick making project before proceeding through the neighbouring village. From here the track rises into the rolling hills that surround the Pilanesberg before returning to the lodge by way of a service gate ensuring that resident guests are not disturbed
