The romantic ruins are set in the spacious botanic garden grounds containing over 600 species of exotic trees and plants, many of them labelled.

mbweni ruins hotel has just 13 suites, which are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans. They are furnished in Zanzibari style with oriental rugs, mosquito nets and four-poster beds. Each room has a lock-up safe and tea/coffee making facilities.

The Rooms are close to the swimming pool and secluded beach and all rooms except one family suite (room 4) have verandas overlooking the sea. The Baobab suite is perfect for honeymoons and for that special treat. Three of the other suites are family suites, with extra bedrooms attached. About half of the rooms have single Zanzibar beds, the other half have double ones.

The wooden jetty stretches out through the mangroves, making boat trips and connections to Chumbe Island easier than ever.
