The Zanzibar Coffee House originates from around 1885 and was originally the elegant home of Sir Tharia Topan,
a Minister to Sultan Said Bargash.
The basement is home to an authentic Café with adjacent coffee roasting room. Above the Café, eight individually
styled hotel rooms feature beautiful floors and rare lamps and are furnished with fine Arab style antiques, all
creating a comfortable and cosy atmosphere.
An architectural rarity is the rooftop with a 360 degree balustrade. While having breakfast with coffee and fresh
croissants, our guests can enjoy the impressive view over the roofs of Stone Town.
The Zanzibar Coffee House Hotel is ideal for the individual traveller seeking a special retreat.
The Zanzibar Coffee House Café
The basement is home to an authentic Café. Guests can witness the roasting of our self-produced coffee and
enjoy the wonderful smell which engulfs the building. Different types of speciality coffee can be consumed in the
Café. Guests can also enjoy a delicious piece of cake or a snack throughout the day.
