GUEST AREAS
The central building with its lofty thatch roofs and open plan is comprised of a reception area, a dining room with crisp white tablecloths and an enormous fireplace, and an elegant lounge, with comfortable sofas and armchairs, perfect for whiling away a lazy afternoon or relaxing after dinner.
All this is surrounded by a wide shady verandah with copper roofs for al fresco dining or taking tea in the afternoon. Timber decks extend over the river flood plain perfect for eating under the stars or sitting around the campfire after dinner listening to the sounds of the African night. The terrace overlooks a narrow grassy flood plain, affording a constant procession of elephant, hippo, buffalo and waterbuck.
CUISINE
Meals are made from the finest fresh ingredients prepared by our acclaimed chef. Dinner is served at either the long banquet table or at private tables under the stars, whilst breakfast and lunch may either be served in lodge or as a picnic during a morning of game watching. For an extra romantic occasion, Royal Zambezi Lodge is happy to offer a candlelit dinner with a difference - on an island in the middle of the Zambezi.
There is a long oval infinity pool for cooling off or sun tanning next to the river. Guests gather at the legendary Sausage tree bar at sunset for drinks. Unquestionably the best bar on the river, it is built around a venerable old tree and its timber deck extends right out over the swiftly flowing channel, the perfect spot for sipping an ice cold G & T while the sun sets in a fiery spectacle.
