Day 1: Kampala to Fort Portal
You will be met on arrival at the airport and Set off for Fort Portal by 1000am. You will drive through the pretty little town of Mubende set in rolling hills. Choice of a brief stop at Nakayima Shrine, a splendid tree known to be 400 years old, worshipped by local people and thought to be holding the spirit of an ancient king. Picnic lunch en route.

Visit the Omukama (king) of Toro’s palace which was destroyed in the 1970S BUT has been renovated and left in it’s original architectural designs. You will meet an elderly man/caretaker of the palace, take you through the history of the monarch. Late afternoon drive to Kibale.

Day 2: The Royal Palace in Fort Portal
Early morning start to the park gate arriving in time for a briefing and go for Chimp tracking in the forest. You will have an encounter with over 13 primate species including the chimps.

After lunch, drive to the the caves locally known as ‘Amabere Ga’yina mwiru’ believed to be the breasts of the old King’s wife (of the Cwezi dynasty), take a walk around the farm on to the craters. Transfer back to Kibale. O/N: Chimpanzee guest house (FB).

Day 3: Buhoma
Start for Buhoma through cultivated expanses of land. You will have stops at places of interest for photography and relaxing. Arrive Bwindi in the evening. O/N: Buhoma community bandas (FB).

Day 4.
Go for a guided community walk, visit the local schools and hospitals. Have a packed lunch and leave for Kisoro, stopping at Kanaba Gap to view the spectacular Virunga volcanoes and stunning terraced hills. Visit the natural, beautiful-looking Lake Mutanda, surrounded by the volcanoes, take a walk on the shores O/N: Nkuringo safari lodge (FB).

Day 5: The Batwa pygmies
Visit the local Batwa pygmies and see their cultures. In the afternoon, cross to Rwanda – clocks go backward . O/N: Kinigi guest house (FB).
