Situated between the vast plains and forests of Tarangire National Park and the tranquil waters of Lake Manyara, Chem Chem Tarangire is nestled amongst an oasis of palms with
stunning panoramic views of the Rift Valley’s western escarpment.
The camp is located in a private land concession in a government-designated wildlife conservation area. This open
expanse of land is ideal for walking safaris.
Tarangire National Park is a baked, white savannah during the dry season and home to lush, green plains during the wet. Herds of elephant, wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle and
hartebeest roam the plains whilst marshes are home to hundreds of species of birds. If you are lucky, you may spot an elusive leopard dozing in the branches of an acacia tree.
Lake Manyara lies like a glittering jewel in its own national park at the foot of the Rift Valley escarpment in the heart of Maasai land. The huge 200-square kilometre (77 square mile) lake is home to a plethora of birdlife including flamingos, which hover over the water like a pink cloud. Drawing water from the lake, other areas of the park are lush with forests and home to troops of baboons. Game drives, forest walks and seasonal canoeing can be enjoyed in this unique area.
