Katavi Wildlife Camp is set back amongst the tress fringing the Kitasunga Plain. As the Katuma river is just close by a daily parade of animals pass in front of the camp on their way to drink.
The camp has just 8 well placed tents built onto wooden platforms and shaded by an extended thatch roof. The bar lounge has perfect views out across the plain where many lion kills are witnessed as there is a resident pride of lion close by.

Katavi Plains National Park is universally recognized as one of the few truly remote and untouched areas of Tanzania’s immense conservation areas. This is primarily due to its position in the far south west of the country and the associated cost and time involved in reaching the park.
For those who do take the time to visit, an unforgettable safari awaits them.
Being one of the least visited National Parks is a bonus for
the few who make it, not a reflection on the experience to be had there – it is a place for those seeking the Africa of decades ago.

At more than 1 million hectares, Katavi is the third largest
National Park; it has 2 lakes, Lake Katavi in the north and
Lake Chada in the south, fed by the Kutuma river.

The Camp 8 tents built up on elevated wooden platforms.
Thatched roofs with large verandas overlooking the plain.
Double, twin and single tents (triple also available on request)
Tents are mosquito proof.
All tents overlook the Kitasunga Plain.
En suite bathroom facilities - Shower, flush toilet, basin.
Electricity provided by generator

Meals Accommodation is full board.
- Breakfast: fresh fruit, breads, full ‘English’ style cooked breakfast, tea, coffee and fruit juice.
- Lunch - a buffet lunch and dessert.
- Dinner - Starter, main course, dessert..
Special diets can be catered for with prior notification.
Tea and coffee is served after each meal and is available
complimentary at all times of day.
Soft drinks and alcoholic drinks are available from the bar
throughout the day.

Activities Game drives are taken in open, adapted 4WD vehicles. The vehicles have tiered Seating and roof shading.
The camp has 2 types of vehicle a Maruti jeep for a max of 6
people, and an extended Landrover style vehicle with 3 rows of seats for a max of 9 people. Game viewing is shared unless a private vehicle reserved..
Guided game walks are available
Fly camping can be pre booked for a minimum of 2 nights.


Private charters are available on any day of the week.
By road, the route to Katavi takes you via Mbeya and Sumbawanga
