Chapungu Luxury Tented Camp offers unique exclusive Safari experiences in both open Land Rovers, and on foot. The private reserve is home to an abundance of species: 147 mammals including the "Big Five", 114 reptiles, 507 birds, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 trees.

The reserve is predominantly open savannah and with a near-perfect year round climate, it is an ideal African safari holiday destination. Eight comfortable tents, each with private facilities and feature “bushveld� bath, are connected by pathways with the main Camp.

Meals are taken together to afford the opportunity for all guests to share the excitement of the day’s game viewing experiences. Nearby, at Thornybush Main Camp, extensive Spa Treatments are available to all Chapungu Tented Camp guests.

A typical day: The day starts as dawn breaks over the African bushveld when you depart in an open landrover with your experienced Rangers and Trackers who will share their extensive knowledge of the bush. After an exhilarating hunt for tracks to see what the animals have been in the area during the night, and tracking down whatever you find, breakfast is ready and served either at the camp or in the riverbed or out in the bush.

In the middle of the day, walks are offered to those who would like to join in. These walks are tailored to suit the guests’ interests and fitness levels and are accompanied by an armed ranger and tracker. These walks allow guests a better chance to see some of the smaller creatures of the bush as well as an opportunity to learn more about the flora and fauna of the region and to have a chance to follow tracks in more detail.

Spa treatments are also available for those who would prefer this. After a late lunch, set off on the afternoon game drive which extends into the evening to view seldom seen nocturnal species by torchlight. Return to the camp for dinner, sharing the day’s experiences.
