Day 1
Arrival in Cape Town, transfer to your hotel. Rest of day at leisure. Overnight: Cape Town.

Day 2
A full day Cape Peninsula tour: Drive south, following the Atlantic coast past Clifton, Camps Bay and Llandudno, to the fishing village at Hout Bay. Here you can take an optional half-hour scenic boat ride to visit an impressive seal colony. Then it’s on over Chapmans Peak Drive, to the Cape Of Good Hope Nature Reserve. We take mountain bikes along for those who wish to get out of the bus and smell the sea air and the many flowers. You can cycle as much or as little as you like, as the support van is always nearby. For real fresh air fiends there is also a half-hour cliff top hike from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope. We have a picnic lunch somewhere in the reserve (on a sunny day take along a bathing suit) and return home via a rare colony of Jackass penguins at Boulders Beach on the Indian Ocean (own account).

Day 3 (operates Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays)
This is a truly mellow day spent absorbing the rich beauty and history of the greater Cape Wine lands. We visit Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschoek, with a cellar tour in one region, and wine tastings in each region. Enjoy spectacular views during a sumptuous picnic lunch. Enjoy bicycling amongst the – nothing too taxing, just enough to get a little exercise and make you even more thirsty! Late afternoon return to Cape Town.

Day 4
Make your way to the starting point for the Table Mountain hike (transport leaves from central Cape Town), all hikers are transported to the start of the trail. Together with our guides, we set out on a thrilling ascent to Table Mountain's Highest Point. A spectacular guided walk up Platteklip Gorge to Maclear's Beacon, the highest point of Table Mountain. You will be rewarded with unrivalled views of the Cape Peninsula and beyond.
Once you have reached the top of Table Point, you can walk around the plateau admiring the views in all directions.
• There is also an exhilarating, optional adventure: Table Mountain Abseil - Step off the top, at 1000 metres above sea level, and rappel into pure vertical space. This is the world's original highest commercial abseil. You are surrounded by awesome views and the deep blue Atlantic Ocean at your feet. A thrilling experience of adrenaline and achievement: a 112 metre controlled descent off Cape Town's magnificent Table Mountain. Descent from Table Mountain with the cablecar (own expense – currently ZAR 85.-) and make your own way back to the hotel.

Day 5
A day at leisure in Cape Town. We recommend taking a one-day “Hop On Hop Off� sightseeing tour, or exploring the Waterfront area on foot.

Day 6
You will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight – or continue with another Active Escape exploring other parts of South Africa. (B)
