elephant plains game lodge is family owned lodge, located in the “Big 5� Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, accommodates a maximum of 24 guests, which ensures personal service and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

The lodge is located on the banks of the dry Manyeleti riverbed. Environment and Conservation has a strong emphasis at Elephant Plains. The lodge’s philosophy is that there is a fine balance between the commercial profit through tourism and the toll taken on the wildlife and habitats. The lodge has a conscientious land management program which endeavours to maintain a naturally diverse ecosystem and minimize the impact of man's activities on the environment.

The five rondavels are set in the beautifully landscaped garden of the original family holiday camp and one can still feel the old bushveld charm upon entering. The rondavels have sundecks, en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning, overhead fans, mini bars, tea/coffee facilities, mosquito nets and electronic safes.

The rustic lounge area is an ideal place to relax and share experiences. Mealtimes are sumptuous affairs with tasty international cuisine and South African specialities. Breakfast and lunch are enjoyed in the dining room or on the deck. Dinner is served around a log fire in the outdoor boma, while enjoying the mystical nocturnal sounds under the African sky.

Your experienced game ranger and local Shangaan tracker are keen to share their extensive knowledge and love of the African bush with you. There are two game drives per day in open top Landrovers.
Each drive lasts about three hours with an intermediate break. After dark, your tracker will use the spotlight to find nocturnal animals before returning to the lodge for dinner. During bush walks you will have the opportunity to take a closer look at animal tracks, birds, different types of grasses and trees, as well as any smaller details of the bush that might fascinate you.
