DAY 1: ARRIVAL TRANSFER- volcanoes NP:
Meet and greet upon arrival at Kigali international airport by our airport representative and professional local guide. Depending on your time of arrival you will visit Kigali genocide memorial centre and then after drive to the Virungas for overnight stay on bed and breakfast (BB) at Kinigi Guest House.
DAY2: KIGALI-VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK.
Very early breakfast, and then proceed to the park headquarters for pre-golden monkeys tracking briefing. Go Golden Monkey tracking with a professional guide. Return to Kinigi Guest House in time for lunch. After lunch at leisure evening visit the Ruhengeri market or villages around, Dinner and overnight stay at Kinigi Guest House (BB)
DAY3: GORILLA TREKKING.
06:00am an early breakfast and transfer to the park head quarters where visitors assembly at 07.00 for a briefing on how to” behave” while in the company of a gorilla group. You will meet your game ranger guide here and proceed to the starting point of the trek to your allocated group of gorillas. The length of the trek varies depending on where the gorillas are as well as what the weather conditions are.
It is important to bring good hiking boots, long trousers and gloves for protection against stinging nettles, some snacks & sweets as well as sufficient amount of water as the rain forest gets hot and humid during the day. You spend one hour with the gorillas which is a truly amazing experience then after back to the base and return to your lodge for late lunch, The whole evening at leisure .Dinner and overnight stay on full board (FB)
DAY 4: VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK -GISENYI
09:00am After breakfast drive to Gisenyi, a resort on the shores of Lake Kivu, check in at Paradis Malahide Hotel for lunch then after relax at the beach until evening. Kivu is one of the great lakes in Africa and the largest of the fresh water lakes that gleam in the Albertine (Western) rift of the Great Rift Valley. Lake Kivu stands 1461m (4,790ft) above sea level and is Africa’s highest lake. Beach relaxation: Surrounded by majestic mountains with soothing sandy beaches and gently pounding waves, Lake Kivu is a perfect place to take a break and relax. Here you can sit back in the shade of giant trees, enjoy local food and reflect back on your gorilla trekking experience. Gisenyi offers excellent view of the lake and the Virunga volcanoes massif. With its waterfront and sandy beaches, Gisenyi is a wonderful place to relax with the feel of tropical beach resort.
Dinner and overnight at Paradise Malahide Hotel.
DAY 5: GISENYI- Nyungwe National Park,
After breakfast departure for Nyungwe National Park via Gishwati Forest check in at Gisakura Guest House for overnight stay on bed and breakfast (BB)
Day 6: After early breakfast report to the park reception for registration and start Chimpanzee tracking. Nyungwe forest National Park, this jungle (1000sq.km) is probably the richest in terms of biodiversity in Africa. It is home to 13 types of primates, several species of large mammals e.g. Leopards, Golden monkeys, Cats, Bush pigs and Duikers. Among the primates, Chimpanzees, black and white Colobus monkeys, and blue monkeys have been habituated for tourism. There are 275 bird species, 25 endemics and the great blue Turaco is a star attraction. The park also boasts 250 species of trees and shrubs plus an amazing 148 Orchid varieties, dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guesthouse on bed and breakfast BB.
Day 7: After an early breakfast drive to Kigali and transfer to the bus terminal for your onward bus journey to Kigoma.(In Ruhango district former Gitarama)
