Masai Mara is in the most northern part of the Serengeti plains in Tanzania. Extensive savanna with endless, turned grass areas and gallery forests along the Mara River. Soft, long stretching island mountains determine the fascinating picture of this park that covers an area of 1.700km2. Practically all animals in East Africa are represented here.
Mara Timbo Camp ***** (7 bush pavilions) lies directly on The Mara River below Oloololo escarpment with fantastic views of the river with hippos and crocodiles. The luxury camp was erected exclusively from nature materials and blends itself outstandingly into the landscape. Each bush pavilion has a large private terrace with an outside bathtub in which one can relax and take in the fascinating landscape. Enjoy exclusive service in an exclusive camp!
You start your Safari to Mara Timbo Camp by flight in Nairobi (take-off 10am) or Mombasa (8am) to land only one (Nbo) or two hours (Mbs) later at Kichwa Tembo Airstrip in the beautiful Masai Mara.
There will be a vehicle from Mara Timbo Camp awaiting you at the airstrip, and it will take you to the camp.
At the camp you will be introduced to your personal butler who welcomes you at the lounge with a tasty cocktail, which you will enjoy with a perfect view of the hippos, that lie in the Mara River, directly in front of the camp. For lunch (and dinner as well), you have the choice between three three-course-menus. As long as the weather allows it, dining at Mara Timbo Camp is always outside, under the open sky with a view of the Hippos.
From Mara Timbo Camp, you go on Safari twice a day: Early in the morning from around 6am until 9.30am and in the afternoon from around 3pm until 6pm. On Safari, you have the chance to encounter the Big Five in by far the most beautiful and well known national park in Kenya, The Masai Mara Game Reserve.
on return to the camp, you can take a relaxing bath on the terrace of your tent, observe the hippos in the river, get a massage in our massage tree house or have a sundowner at the lounge with its blazing but warm campfire. Here you can listen to the stories of our Masai naturalist, ask him questions about the camp, The Masai Mara and The Masai tribe in general.
Dinner is served by your personal butler in very idyllic atmosphere around another big camp fire under the open African sky.
Thereafter, there is the possibility of having a night game drive for around 1.5 hrs. Or you can just let the last rays of daylight fade away in our lounge as you sip on delicious cocktails made by our outstanding bartender.
Besides exciting Safaris, Mara Timbo Camp offers breathtaking balloon safaris in the early morning sunrise.
Or how about a visit in a neighboring Masai village where you get to know more about the culture of the famous Masai tribe first hand? Another interesting thing to do is a two-hour Nature Walk within the Mara Timbo Camp area and to learn about the significance of flora and fauna for the Masai under the instructions of knowledgeable Masai leaders
