Southern Africa: A Private View
Itinerary
12 days showcasing the wonders of Southern Africa in the company of expert guides.
The Orient-Express privately-guided 12-day journey showcases the wonders of Southern Africa, travelling from Cape Town's famous Table Mountain, renowned for its extraordinary floral biodiversity and breathtaking views, to the mighty Victoria Falls and on to Orient-Express' exceptional safari camps in Chobe National Park, Moremi Wildlife Reserve and the Okavango Delta, one of the world’s last true wilderness areas.
Days 1 to 3: Cape Town
Arrival in Cape Town. Private transfer to the famed Mount Nelson Hotel, your home in the "Mother City" for three nights. The hotel is located at the foot of Table Mountain, offering easy access to the city, spectacular beaches and a wide selection of top restaurants. Enjoy magnificent scenery at every turn. Explore by private, escorted sightseeing tours or at your own pace by rental car. Two full day tours, of the Cape Winelands and Cape Point (with its famous penguins), are included in your stay.
Days 4 & 5: Victoria Falls
Fly to the world-famous Victoria Falls (inclusive of the VIP airport assistance at Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport) and arrive by private luxury road transfer at your luxurious hotel, a short distance from the breathtaking tumbling waters. Explore the falls in a variety of unforgettable ways: a magical walking tour, a magnificent sundowner cruise and a spectacular helicopter flight excursion. Additional cultural and sporting activities are available.
Days 6 & 7: Chobe National Park
This morning, transfer by road and shared light aircraft to the Savute region of Chobe National Park, an area renowned for its high concentration of elephant herds. During your two night stay at the Savute Elephant Camp you will enjoy amazing sightings of big game, including lions, under the skilled direction of an expert guide. You will also have the luxury of sitting on the deck of your tent watching elephants drink from the intermittent river that started flowing once again this January after nearly 30 years. During your stay here, enjoy a private dinner on your tent deck.
Days 8 & 9: Moremi Game Reserve
After breakfast, continue by light aircraft to the tranquility of Khwai River Lodge for two nights. The impressions of Khwai will stay with you forever – driving through the bush among herds of elephants,
the sound of lions roaring in the distance or a family of baboons squabbling nearby. Unwind further with a luxurious massage at the Naturally Wild spa or in the privacy of your own tent deck.
Days 10 & 11: Okavango Delta
Continue on a short flight to the renowned Okavango Delta and Eagle Island Camp. Enjoy two nights here, among the prolific animal and bird life of the island and surrounding delta. Explore by mokoro traditional canoe (water levels permitting) and on foot, for an unforgettable safari experience. During your stay at Eagle Island, you will also be treated to a spectacular scenic helicopter flight over the Okavango Delta.
